Compassionate Occupational Therapy in Lexington, Kentucky

Sunny Day Therapy provides occupational therapy in Lexington, KY for children, teenagers, adults, and infants. Our mission is to help individuals and families build the skills needed for everyday life through improved sensory regulation, motor coordination, executive function, and whole-body awareness.

We support clients across the lifespan with a focus on increasing independence, confidence, and meaningful participation at home, school, work, and in the community.

What Occupational Therapy Is (and How We Help)

Occupational therapy (OT) helps individuals develop or regain the skills needed for daily life activities—such as learning, playing, self-care, emotional regulation, and social participation.

At Sunny Day Therapy, occupational therapy focuses on:

  • Sensory processing and nervous system regulation
  • Fine motor and gross motor skill development
  • Executive function skills (attention, planning, organization, follow-through)
  • Emotional regulation and behavioral support
  • Reflex integration and motor coordination
  • Independence in activities of daily living (ADLs)

Our goal is always functional: helping skills carry over into real life, not just the therapy room.

Sensory Integration and Nervous System Regulation

Many challenges in attention, behavior, and learning are connected to how the nervous system processes sensory information.

We specialize in sensory integration occupational therapy, using evidence-based strategies to support regulation, including:

  • Deep pressure input and calming techniques
  • Movement-based sensory activities
  • Sensory modulation strategies
  • Environmental adaptations
  • Structured routines and visual supports

These tools help improve attention, emotional regulation, and participation in daily life.

Executive Function and Daily Life Skills

Executive function skills are essential for independence across home, school, and community environments.

We help clients strengthen:

  • Task initiation and completion
  • Organization and planning
  • Working memory and attention
  • Emotional flexibility and regulation
  • Self-monitoring and independence in routines

Therapy is always practical and functional—focused on real-life application.

Our Approach to Occupational Therapy

Sunny Day Therapy uses a functional, sensory-informed, family-centered model of care.

We believe therapy is most effective when it is:

  • Individualized to each client
  • Grounded in daily routines and real-world participation
  • Supported by family education and collaboration
  • Focused on nervous system regulation and readiness for learning

We work closely with families so strategies extend beyond the clinic and into everyday life.
