At Sunny Day Therapy, adult occupational therapy is designed to support regulation, independence, and meaningful participation in daily life. We help adults better understand their nervous system, strengthen routines, and build practical strategies for work, home, relationships, and self-care. We help adults and teenagers understand what environments fit their sensory needs and how to set up habits, build routines, and design environments to enhance wellness.

Therapy is collaborative, respectful, and individualized. We focus on what matters most to you—your goals, your energy, your environment, and your capacity.

Nervous System & Sensory Regulation Support

Understanding how your body responds to stress, input, and daily demands

Many adults experience sensory overload, burnout, fatigue, or difficulty staying regulated throughout the day. We help you identify patterns in your nervous system and build personalized strategies for regulation and recovery.

This may include sensory-based supports, grounding strategies, movement, and environmental adjustments that help your system feel more stable and predictable.

When regulation improves, focus, mood, and daily functioning become more manageable.

Executive Function & Daily Life Skills

Building systems that actually work for your brain

Executive function challenges can impact organization, planning, time management, and follow-through. We focus on practical systems that reduce overwhelm rather than adding more pressure.

Together, we build routines, external supports, and step-by-step strategies that fit your real life—not an idealized version of it.

This supports greater independence, consistency, and confidence in daily responsibilities.

Emotional Regulation & Stress Support

Helping you navigate overwhelm, shutdown, or anxiety patterns

We work on understanding emotional responses through a regulation lens rather than a “willpower” lens. This includes recognizing triggers, body cues, and stress cycles.

You’ll develop tools to help shift out of overwhelm more effectively and build capacity for daily demands over time. We use Lifestyle Renovation strategies; Dr. Day has attended 6 courses of USC’s Lifestyle Redesign Program and has earned an Executive Certificate in Home Modification.

The goal is not perfection—it is stability, awareness, and self-trust.

Work, Life & Role Functioning

Supporting participation in what matters most to you

Whether it is work performance, household management, caregiving, education, or transitions, therapy focuses on real-world function.

We look at what is getting in the way and build supports that make participation more sustainable.

Small adjustments can lead to significant improvements in energy, consistency, and follow-through.

Sensory & Environmental Design

Creating spaces and routines that support your nervous system

Your environment plays a major role in how you feel and function. We explore sensory input, workspace setup, home organization, lighting, noise, and movement needs.

The goal is to design environments that reduce overload and support regulation throughout your day.

When your environment works with your nervous system, life feels more manageable.

Self-Advocacy & Insight Development

Understanding your needs and communicating them clearly

We help you develop awareness of your patterns, needs, and limits so you can advocate for yourself in work, relationships, and healthcare settings.

This includes learning how to identify what supports you, what drains you, and how to communicate those needs effectively.

Self-understanding becomes a foundation for long-term wellbeing.

Ergonomics & Body Mechanics

Supporting comfort, efficiency, and long-term physical sustainability

Many adults experience pain, fatigue, or strain from how they sit, work, or move throughout the day. We assess posture, workstation setup, movement patterns, coordination, motor planning, and physical load on the body.

Together, we make practical adjustments to reduce strain and improve comfort—whether at a desk, in caregiving roles, or during daily routines.

Better ergonomics support better energy, fewer symptoms, and improved long-term physical wellbeing.

Shining a Light on Occupational Therapy for Teens and Adults

Let us shine a light on how occupational therapy can benefit teenagers and young adults. While many conditions such as ADHD, Autism, anxiety, and OCD benefit from OT, no formal diagnosis is required by many insurances.

Adult therapy at Sunny Day is not about fixing who you are—it is about understanding how you function best and building a life that supports your nervous system, strengths, and goals.

Through practical tools, wellness plans, regulation strategies, and personalized support, we help you create more ease, clarity, and sustainability in daily life.
