Sunny Day Therapy offers comprehensive pediatric evaluations and therapy tailored to enhance developmental skills and promote independence in daily living skills, transitions, and task completion. Our therapists have completed advanced training to know sensory integration, reflexes, strengthening, home modification, mental health, and lifestyle renovation strategies from the world’s leading educational programs. Ask about our advanced certifications and training! Child therapy is play based at our Lexington Kentucky sensory gym. We offer online options which are best for older children. We go to a limited number of private schools near our office. Dr. Day is at schools & Daycares in Richmond on Wednesdays. Dr. Reynolds provides occupational therapy in Lexington, Kentucky at and near our Hamburg office only.

Therapy for people (children, teenagers, & caregivers) experiencing stress and anxiety – Sunny Day Therapy offers specialized services include sensory integration, autism support, fine and gross motor skill development, self-care, mental health, ergonomics, and executive function training. Young adults and children benefit from learning regulation strategies to enhance sensory health, sensory processing, and sensory integration. Therapy boosts the brain and strengthens the body using a variety of client-centered tools including body work, reflex integration, sensory strategies, cognitive strategies, metacognition, and self-expression through activity. We want to help you “do, be, become and belong”. We want to help you do what is important to you. This is not a cookie-cutter approach. We look at your physical strength, sensory profile, mental strength, and environment supports to give you an individual wellness plan. We are your coach and accountability partner to give you tools and support you in achieving your goals. Our therapy in Lexington, Richmond, and through telehealth in Kentucky can help you through transitions such as being a new parent so you can have a wellness plan and tools to feel empowered to do your jobs of living “occupations.” If you are experiencing symptoms of a condition or newly diagnosed, this is also a good time to have occupational therapy to empower you with physical tools, mental tools, exercises and resources to get through this season of change or stress in your life. Dr. Day has perinatal mental health certification (PMH-C) and core exercise/pelvic floor training (PCES). Dr. Reynolds has experience in mental health as a fieldwork student at Eastern State Hospital as well as experience working in a daycare. Both doctors provide trauma-informed & personalized occupational therapy care.

Therapy for moms- Sunny Day Therapy also offers maternal health occupational therapy and infant massage to help the whole family regulate their nervous system, understand body signs, and utilize body work, reflex, and motor skill development knowledge. Maternal health therapy addresses nervous system regulation (calming), setting up the environment, ergonomics, and pelvic health. We prioritize your needs and desires so you can do the daily activities you want with the strength you need. If you feel “lost in the laundry” or anxious, depressed, or weak, we are here for you. We help you or your child grow physically and mentally strong with a family-centered approach. Adults and teenagers benefit from Dr. Day’s studies on executive function; she has trained her whole practice on executive function & mental health tools & ergonomics/home modifications to help clients set up spaces of efficiency and sensory support tailored to your own assessment results so you understand your strengths and areas for growth. We offer occasional classes for caregivers such as infant massage, ergoMOMics, home MOMifications, and sensory classes.

At Sunny Day Therapy, Dr. Kim Day and Dr. Cara Reynolds integrate educational training into our specialized pediatric therapy services. We are passionate about training parents because we understand that calm and empowered parents help the whole family thrive. We provide education on enhancing sensory integration, fine and gross motor skills, and social skills, ensuring a comprehensive and holistic approach to child development. We support the whole family – looking at your environment, sensory needs, and physical/mental strength/coordination. When you can manage and regulate your body, you are better able to do your daily activities. We want you to thrive at doing the activities you love- to experience purpose, meaning, and hope in your daily life. We have an exercise library to strengthen you based on your motor assessment results and mental/body work tools to help your body relax and focus.

Community Support
Sunny Day Therapy emphasizes community care, providing telehealth options and in-person support in Lexington and Richmond, making therapy accessible for families in need. Dr. Day and Dr. Reynolds love supporting communities through transformational care and education on resources. We appreciate our community referral partners and value a team approach. Our Story Power programs and tools are accessible; Dr. Day can provide virtual trainings as well as goes to community or educational facilities such as hospitals and schools for trainings and CEU (continuing education) classes. She offers Story Power products through her teachers pay teachers site as well as uses them in her therapy in her office and community sites.

Story Power Classes
Sunny Day Therapy offers infant massage classes, and trainings for parents, teachers, and therapists such as classes about sensory integration, stress management, and emotional regulation. Dr. Day has copyrighted many educational programs to teach children how to calm their bodies and think more clearly. She has also designed programs and tools to help families with regulation including The Nourishing New Families Program and training programs for occupational therapy practitioners.
Dr. Day also designs CEUs; she has CEUs approved by the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Occupational Therapy. She has experience speaking to schools, hospitals, nonprofits, and groups of therapists. Contact her today to have her design a specialized CEU for your group. Dr. Day has her own space at Hamburg in Lexington, Kentucky to host classes and programs or can come to your facility for a fee to host programs. Dr. Day also welcomes community members to contact her about renting her space to host programs or classes that are a good fit for educating families. Dr. Day loves collaborating with others.
